Citi indicates that the digital asset hosting service is planned to be rolled out later this year, starting with Bitcoin. The company disclosed that the service would be incorporated into its Custody+ hosting and settlement tool system and that institutional clients could access traditional securities hosting and encrypted asset hosting under the same framework.

Integration of Custody+ System

This arrangement continues the route previously disclosed by Citi. Last October, the Bank indicated its intention to launch a bitcoin hosting service for institutional clients in 2026. This latest statement means that the products are entering a more explicit landing phase.

Amit Agarwal, the head of the Citi-Integrator Service Hosting Operations, stated that Custody+ was part of the company ' s multi-year digital asset infrastructure, with the aim of simplifying the hosting and settlement process in a more complex operating environment.

Traditional hosting goes hand in hand with encrypted hosting

Citi stresses that one of the priorities of the new service is to place traditional and encrypted assets in the same service framework. For institutional clients, this means that in the future, there may be a reduction in system switching and process fragmentation at the hosting, clearing and asset service levels.

At the same time, the company disclosed that at present more than 80 per cent of its asset service operations had been processed in real time. Under the flag, Citi Token Services has also supported near real-time, round-the-clock transfers of monetized deposits in some markets.

  • Service delivery to corporate clients
  • 24 hours transfer

Wall Street continues to expand its digital assets.

Citicorp ' s latest move is taking place at a time when many large banks continue to advance digital asset operations. In January of this year, the New York Stock Exchange indicated that it was working with Citi and Melon Bank in New York to prepare a platform based on a block chain to support monetization of shares and ETF.

It is also mentioned that Morgan Stanley applied for the United States National Trust Bank licence in February this year for an entity to provide encryption hosting services. Traditional financial institutions are continuing to expand their deployment in the area of encrypted asset infrastructure as the hosting, clearing and monetization platforms advance in tandem.
