AI Genesis Etched announced the completion of a new round of $700 million in financing, with an increase in valuation to $21 billion. Just a month ago, the company just completed a $300 million C round of financing with a valuation of $10.3 billion. The lead party Jane Street indicated that it decided to invest after testing and purchasing its hardware.

Double the valuation per month

Etched ' s valuation rose at a relatively low rate in the AI track. The company ' s valuation of $5 billion in December last year has now risen to $21 billion, of which the most recent one-month valuation increased by nearly $11 billion.

The reasoning system is aimed at two processes.

Etched does not sell chips alone, but wraps the product into a complete system known externally as the “front-line reasoning cluster”. Robert Wachen, Co-founder and Chief Operator of the Corporation, stated that investors valued its two core components redesigned around the reasoning chain.

He described the model reasoning as broadly divided into two phases: first, prefill, where the system understands user input and context; and second, decode, where the output is generated that the user eventually sees. The former rely more on computing capacity, while the latter rely more on memory and data transfer efficiency.

Jane Street has deployed the aircraft.

According to Etched, the company designed low voltage chips for the prefill phase to integrate more transistors under heat control; for the decode phase, new memory types and interconnectivity programmes were developed and referred to as “cluster-level memory”.

Jane Street, in an article announcing investments, indicated that it had tested the Etched chip and was satisfied with the early results. It also stated that the Etched reasoning programme was capable of meeting the high load workload and that a set of Etched racks was currently operated in its own data centre.

Etched also indicated that it had been thought by the outside world that its chips were suitable only for a single front model, but that the idea was no longer applicable. The company now claims that the existing system can run any forward model.
