Nexo began to provide an encrypted mortgage credit line in Australia, open to eligible clients. The company disclosed that the business had been incorporated into the local consumer credit framework, and that the related loans were provided by Nexo Individual Loans and were serviced by Avgi, an Australian credit licence holder.

Operating on the basis of a licensed agency

According to company disclosures, Nexo Australia ' s credit representative number 580430 and Avgi Pty Ltd hold Australian credit plates 567308. Nexo Australia does not own a separate Australian credit licence, but rather conducts related business as an authorized credit representative, responsible for the application process, account management and customer support.

The company further stated that Nexo Australia was registered as a digital money transaction service provider in AUSTRAC and joined the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA). AFCA may provide an independent channel for processing eligible financial complaints.

Loans can be secured against encrypted assets

Such lines of credit allow customers to obtain liquidity without immediately selling digital assets. According to the company, the funds are usually available within 24 hours. The product has no fixed duration and no start-up fee, and the client has the flexibility to repay and to replace the eligible collateral without closing the current level.

However, such borrowing still carries with it the risk of liquidation and repayment. If the price of the collateral falls, the borrower may need additional assets, otherwise part of the collateral may be disposed of. The simultaneous roll-out of the Booster feature by Nexo allows eligible clients to zoom in digital asset warehousing up to a maximum of three times, which further increases the risk of loss from market fluctuations.

  • The minimum loan rate is 0.9%.
  • Funds are usually available within 24 hours.
  • Booster can zoom up to three times the position.

Revenue products run separately from loan operations

In addition to the lending products, Nexo also provides Growth revenue services in Australia. Flexible Growth accumulated income on a daily basis to support demand-driven drawings; Foxed Term Growth required clients to lock their assets for a period of time in exchange for higher promotional returns.

According to the company, the Groth gains were not guaranteed. The customer transferred ownership of the deposited assets to Nexo Australia in exchange for an unsecured contractual claim. Such products are not bank deposits and do not provide principal protection.

This is particularly sensitive in Australia. Previously, the local High Court had ruled that Block Earner had required a financial services licence for its past earnings. Nexo indicated that it had applied for an Australian financial services licence, but that the Australian Securities and Investment Commission ASIC had not yet decided on the application.

The Australian encryption credit market continues to expand.

Nexo's landing meant that Australia's localized encrypted credit product was a further example. In contrast to the bitcoin mortgages that had appeared before, Nego this time provided a broader instrument of liquidity that was not directly tied to real estate finance.

The company did not disclose the expected size of the loan, the specific collateral requirements for the different assets and the target number of Australian clients. Nexo indicated that the successor plan would integrate lending, exchange, earnings and membership services on the same Australian platform, but that access would still depend on eligibility, credit standards and product terms.

Additional information:According to Australian business register information, Nexo Australia Pty Ltd has been active since June 2023.
