Amazon announces that AI Assistant Alexa+ will be free of charge for all United States compatible Fire TV equipment. Users do not need to subscribe to Prime, or to download applications or additional registrations, and the system will automatically complete the upgrade.
This update covers the current generation of Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Cube, as well as some of the smart TVs, including Hisense and Panasonic models, which are built into Alexa+. Amazon also states that Alexa+ will provide more natural dialogue search, intelligent home control and AI recommendations.
AI function goes directly to TV
Amazon says that instead of looking for content by title, users can directly present more vague demands, such as “high-rated horror films” or “historic dramas about female protagonists”. Alexa+ can also call Ring video on television and help manage home equipment.
The industry is pushing AI into the living room.
Such upgrades are not unique to Amazon. Google launched Gemini this year on Google TV, and Roku upgraded his voice assistant last year. A number of technology companies are embedding AI in TV and on top of the machine, promoting the use of dialogue on screens.
Amazon added that Alexa+ users spoke twice as often on Fire TV as in the original version of Alexa. By doing so, the company emphasizes that the AI function is increasing the frequency of interaction between users and television.
