Pi Network is advancing the next round of network upgrades. The projecter deployed Protocol 27 on 21 August to Testnet 1 for pre-testing by developers and nodal operators, with the current goal of moving forward to the main network on 15 September 2026.

Preparation for DEX and liquidity

One of the priorities of this upgrade is to adjust the way smart contracts are certified. According to the project participants, the new version would provide a more flexible and more secure authorization mechanism for the accounts and applications to have more validation options when initiating transactions.

In addition to the authentication function, Protocol 27 was used to pave the way for the follow-up infrastructure, including the RPC server, the decentrized trading function and the AMM mobility pool. These components are usually used to support chain connectivity, brokering and liquidity supply.

The order of advance that is currently published is to complete Testnet 1 before entering Testnet 2 and then try the main online line. Pi Core Team describes Protocol 27 as the last of the current series of upgrades, after which the development focus will shift more towards providing a more stable operational base for applications.

App Studio fees will be adjusted.

In addition to the agreed upgrade, Pi App Studio will adjust the fees effective 24 August. The subsidized price of 0.25 PI for each of the applications previously created and edited will no longer be applicable to most developers.

The projecter indicated that the new pricing would be closer to actual service costs and AI costs. Subsidized prices may continue to be obtained if the application is of practical use and active; only applications for testing, testing or garbage content are no longer covered.

By mid-August, as disclosed in the text, the Pi main web line was approximately 82 applications, one step closer to the integer level of 100 applications.

PI market value back above $1 billion.

With the overall warming of the encryption market, the PI market value has returned to over $1 billion. It states that PI currently ranks approximately 56th in the global market value of encrypted assets.

The article also mentions that PI prices are again trying to break the $1.10 line. The position had created resistance in July, at which time the price fell to about US$ 0.07. According to the data, PI latest reported $ 0.1045, 24 hours up 13.19 per cent, corresponding to a market value of approximately $1.16 billion.

For Pi Network, what is more interesting is whether Protocol 27 will complete the test in the order in which it is done and move on to the main network.
