London AI Inherent began to disclose the progress of its products. The company was founded by Google DeepMind, a former employee who had just closed his invisibility operation a few weeks ago and announced the completion of $50 million in seed ship financing. Today, the company claims that its newly published AI proxy Faraday has exceeded the larger models of Anthropic and OpenAI in a scientific mission.

Faraday ' s test is not a chat or a general question-and-answer mission, but rather an independent review of the findings of the scientific papers that have been published without prior knowledge of the answers. According to Inherent, such missions are close to basic capabilities in scientific training and can also test whether the model is capable of choosing an experimental direction and designing an experimental step.

Inherent stressed that the assessment criteria were not only the correctness of the results but also the “research judgement” of the model. Training focused on intensive learning

Edward Hughes, a co-founder and chief scientist of Inherent, said that the company attached more importance to building methods than just running over other models. To this end, rather than relying primarily on disciplined learning of the scientific process, the team has increased the use of intensive learning to make the system more effective in learning about results and experimental pathways through incentive mechanisms.

The company is betting that this training approach is more appropriate to its long-term objective of building AI scientists ' agents who can participate in research in multiple fields of science. Hughes indicated that the team would like the system to be like its research colleagues to be able to initiate new experiments and provide feedback on the results rather than simply giving answers that suit the expectations of users.

Inherent did not try to develop all the capabilities on the tool selection. According to the company, Faraday will call OpenAI ' s GPT-55 Codex at the programming stage instead of using a self-study coding tool. This, in its terms, is closer to the way in which real scientists collaborate with off-the-shelf software.

Continue expansion after completion of financing

Inherent currently has a team of about 12 people working in King's Cross in London. Hughes states that the company plans to increase the number to 20 to 25 by the end of this year.

He also mentioned that the common “garden leave” practice in the United Kingdom would limit the entry or establishment of competing companies by separating employees within months, which would affect the mobility of talent. Hughes said to TechCrunch that he had been affected by the problem.

As the company pushes for recruitment, Inherent may attract more researchers interested in leaving DeepMind.
