According to foreign media, the market has recently turned its eyes again to the pay technologyr Volante Technologies around the possibility of XRP entering the United States real-time payment system. This is not a new development published by the Fed or Fednow, but a potential access path proposed by researchers based on the product connection that Volante already has.

Volante connects Fednow with Ripple.

Volante, according to the report, is one of the FedNow ' s technical service providers that can help banks and credit unions access the immediate payment network launched by the United States Federal Reserve. At the same time, the company has incorporated the Ripple integration capacity into its VolPay Hub as early as 2015 and further integrated the programme into the VolPay Foundation platform in 2016.

According to the article, this means that Volante has not recently moved to encrypted payment, but has earlier established an enterprise-level connection with Ripple. If the connection continues to be available, financial institutions using the Volante platform may theoretically be exposed to XRP settlement capabilities on the same set of infrastructure.

Third-party access is a common choice for banks.

According to the 2023 " Faster Payments Barameter " survey, 47 per cent of the institutions interviewed preferred access to Fednow through a third-party service provider, compared to 32 per cent planned to link their own payment networks. This data is used to indicate that banks tend to rely more on intermediate technology suppliers for real-time payment network construction.

Volante executive Deepak Gupta has also indicated that the first option for a multi-agency rapid connection to multiple payment networks is through service providers. According to this article, once a third-party platform covers multiple networks at the same time, the settlement options that it can offer are more likely to attract market interest.

Existing platform is considered a potential settlement path

In addition to FedNow, Volante is connected to the RTP network operated by The Clearing House, the United States Clearing House. It was reported that if Fednow, RTP and Ripple were integrated on the same platform, some agencies might have the technical conditions to enable XRP settlements without additional system development.

The article also mentions that 92 per cent of the institutions interviewed in the same survey considered that interoperability between different payment systems was important. Under this logic, if the platform itself supports multi-network connectivity, adding new settlement options would be easier to discuss in the market.

Additional information:The content of the report is mainly from the work of researchers who are combing out established partnerships and is not a new announcement by Fednow or the United States Federal Reserve.
