There has been a debate in recent days about whether there is a link between XRP and the US Federal Reserve Real-Time Payment System FedNow. At the heart of the concern is not direct Fed access to XRP, but payment technology providers support Fednow and maintain years of partnership with Ripple.
Key connection point in Volante
Volante provides a multi-track payment access capability for banks and financial institutions with a platform to connect to payment networks such as Fednow, RTP, ACH, Fedwire and SWIFT. Public information also indicates that Volante is on the Fednow service provider's display list.
On the other hand, Volante's cooperation with Ripple dates back to 2015. At that time, Volante had indicated that its VolPay platform could help financial institutions access Ripple's payment network. This historical partnership has been the main basis for recent warming speculation in the XRP community.
There is no official evidence of integration.
At this stage, it can be confirmed that Volante also covers the capacity of traditional payment networks related to Ripple. This does not, however, mean that the Fed has incorporated XRP into Fednow, nor does it mean that XRP has become an official settlement asset for the system.
The article mentions that being included in the list of Fednow service providers merely indicates that the relevant business can provide technical support to the participating agency, and does not imply that the Fed has endorsed all its products, partnerships or other integration programmes.
Market focus on potential use scenarios
Proponents believe that if banks use XRP as one of the liquidity or settlement options in a multi-track payment system in the future, the use of XRP by institutions in cross-border payments may be enhanced. Ripple has long positioned XRP as a bridge between different French currencies.
However, Fednow does not function the same as SWIFT. Fednow, which mainly serves immediate payments in the United States, is a global financial network that is widely used for cross-border transactions. Even for the benefit of the ERP, there is no need to replace existing systems, and more likely to be complementary roles in existing payment structures.
Price performance amplification to discuss heat
The recent price performance of XRP has also raised market concerns at a time of fermentation. Citing CoinCodex data, it states that XRP was at one point close to US$ 1.50, the latest report is US$ 1.46.
It is more of a matter of concern now, not whether XRP has entered FedNow, but whether the Bank will in the future adopt the XRP on a large scale in its operations through a multi-track platform like Volante. At least from the public information available, this progress is still at a speculative stage.
