Eight Sleep is trying to move from high-end consumer electronics to health care. The company indicated to Fortune that the United States FDA declaration for sleep-respiratory suspension and mitigation was progressing well, with the aim of moving the current mattress covering equipment for high-income users to a medical device path that could be insuredly paid for.
Aim for sleep breathing.
At present, the core product of Eight Sleep, Pod, is sold at $2999. The equipment is laid on the mattress surface and the temperature is regulated by the internal water cycle system, with separate temperature control of the beds. The built-in sensors track the heart rate, breathing and body activity, and the AI model then automatically warms at night and produces sleep ratings.
Eight Sleep has promoted the approval of the FDA since 2025 and is working with clinical research. It was reported that the FDA threshold for suspending “risk tips” for sleeping breathing was below the official diagnostic tool. Apple watch and Samsung-related equipment had previously been approved for risk alerting, while Eight Sleep sought a closer route to the prescription diagnostic aid, hoping to quantify the number of breathing pauses per hour.
Abu Dhabi initiated clinical trials.
In August this year, Eight Sleep also initiated a clinical trial with the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Health to test Pod ' s ability to automatically adjust patient ' s sleeping position and thus become one of the alternatives to the continuous airway orthodox (CPAP). In recent times, Abu Dhabi is emerging as a new destination for medical cooperation between the United States Consumer Health Technology Corporation.
It was mentioned that the research and cooperation projects that had recently been promoted locally by Ora and Whoop, respectively, showed that the Middle East market was being seen by some American health hardware companies as a springboard for medical certification and international expansion.
Towards inclusion of insurance payments
Eight Sleep hopes that the regulator will finally find Pod not just to track sleep problems, but to actually intervene. If this is established, the party paying for the product may shift from personal to insurance. According to the company, the price of the product is being pushed down, but no explanation has been given as to how the cost structure will be adjusted.
At this stage, Pod has been able to apply to HSA and FSA reimbursement through the Financial Technology Platform. However, whether the regulatory hierarchy will recognize its therapeutic properties of disease remains key to subsequent commercialization.
Tether Participation in the latest round of financing
With regard to financing, Eight Sleep received an investment of $50 million from Tether in March this year, valued at $1.5 billion. The company stated that it had made a profit in 2025. Public information indicates that the company has accumulated over $310 million in financing, that its products have entered 35 countries and that it entered the Chinese market in 2026.
Additional information:According to the report, Eight Sleep did not disclose the latest collection data, but the company claimed that since Pod was listed in 2019, revenues had increased nearly 30 times and cumulative sales had exceeded $500 million.
