Anthropic has informed the San Francisco office staff that he will not be available at the beginning of the week to work at home. This is because the company received notifications from the security contractor that the security personnel concerned might be on strike.

According to sources, the notification was from Allied Unit. Anthropic then asked his own staff not to go to San Francisco offices on Monday and Tuesday, in case the on-site services were affected. The company did not comment publicly on this arrangement.

The union says there was no strike threat this week.

The United States International Trade Union of Service Employees (SEIU), representing the relevant security personnel, stated that they were negotiating long-term contracts with Allied Universal and other security companies in California, but did not authorize a vote on organizing a strike this week and did not threaten to strike.

SEIU covers thousands of security personnel in California. According to the trade union, the new round of contract negotiations began in April this year, and the demands included raising wages, improving health care and providing more complete job training.

Science and technology companies have continued to enhance security in recent years

In recent years, the overall security investment of the science and technology industry has continued to rise. The Wall Street Journal previously reported that Anthropic and OpenAI had dealt with a number of threats against employees.

Anthropic currently has a mixed office system. According to recruitment information, staff usually need at least 25 per cent of their time in the office. This temporary conversion to remote office is an indication of more prudent on-site management measures taken by the company in the event of security uncertainty.

IPO expects company movements to be of interest.

Markets are also following the progress of Anthropic capital markets. The report mentions that the company was at the earliest to apply for the first public collection in August. Its confidential draft S-1 was submitted in June.

In secondary markets, investors have recently pushed the Anthropic valuation up to $150 billion. This means that, even if the incident itself was a short-term office adjustment, the pace of company operations and market readiness was closely followed.
