Apples introduce two new processors, M5 Ultra and M6, and simultaneously update Mac Mini and Mac Studio product lines. Unlike the previous simple emphasis on performance, this release highlighted the power of the device to run AI, indicating that apples are continuing to leave more AI tasks locally.

M5 Ultra facing high load scene

Apple says M5 Ultra is currently the most performing self-research chip. It is a combination of two nudist M5 Max and a four-naked apple headline design that focuses on high-intensity tasks such as complex 3D rendering, visual effects and front-line AI models.

According to company-disclosed data, M5 Ultra has a maximum of 36 nuclear CPUs, 80 nuclear GPUs, with a unified memory bandwidth of 1.2 TB/s, up 50 per cent from M3 Ultras released about a year and a half ago. Apple expects that this configuration will also attract AI developers who need local calculators.

M6 upend model processing speed

By contrast, M6 favours a wider audience. The apple indicates that the chip is based on a 2 nanoprocess, with a new CPU structure, new CPU and GPU cores, and carries a double 16 NNE engine and a higher unified memory bandwidth.

In a press release, Apple Executive Sri Santham stated that M6 uses 12 nuclear CPUs, two cores more than M5. The company also indicated that M6 was close to 30 per cent higher than M5 on AI-related GPU peaks and could speed up the processing of hints for large language models at the end of the device.

Apples keep betting on local AI.

Apple states that developers can operate directly locally in Mac and fine-tune large AI models with new chips and supporting frameworks. Its development tools will automatically optimize performance between CPUs, GPUs and Neuronet Engines, and support the call for Apple Foundation Models, AppIntents and developer-owned models.

In self-study of the AI model, apples had previously progressed slower than some competitors. The report mentions that the high-profile Siri upgrade is supported by Google Gemini. Apples continue to prioritize end-of-equipment treatment over cloud-end routes, hoping for greater privacy and greater control.
