Generating AI State AI announced the completion of $76 million B rounds of financing, which increased to $232 million. Unlike general financial investments, the majority of the participants in this round came from the content and distribution areas, indicating that the company was further tying finance to business cooperation.

The participants focused on the content industry.

According to the company, the current round is funded in part by the Globe Music Group, Sony Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Game Company Art Electric (EA). AMD Ventures and Pacific Alliance Ventures also participated in the current round of investments.

This list of investors is relatively rare. TechCrunch noted that it was more like capital support built around content authorization and distribution cooperation than just traditional venture capital.

Promotion of entertainment industry cooperation over the past year

The Stability AI was founded in 2019 and the products under the flag include image generation models Stable Diffusion. Over the past year, companies have continuously promoted generation AI into the creative processes of entertainment companies.

Last October, Stability AI worked with Globe Music and EA; last November, it signed up with Warner Music. It was mentioned that such cooperation was not only the result of procurement or delegation of authority, but also involved companies in the joint development of their AI tools.

Copyright suits remain a concern.

In addition to financing, developments in corporate copyright disputes have also been noted. Previously, Getty Images sued Stability AI in the United Kingdom for using its pictures and violating intellectual property rights while training image-producing models. In that case, the Court generally supported the position of Stability AI.

However, similar proceedings by Getty Images in the United States are still pending. It was also reported that in 2023 Stability AI was also prosecuted by the co-founder Cyrus Hodes, who claimed that he had been misled by another co-founder, Emad Mostaque, and sold his shares in the company.

The current CEO Prem Akkaraju joined the company in 2024. He stated that the round of finance reflected investor support for the direction of the company, i.e., to have the generated AI serve producers, musicians and content creators.
