A reminder was sent by the developers of the main network L1 contract. With the upgrading of Glamsterdam, the main network will introduce a new Gas heavy-pricing scheme, and a small number of contracts that rely on old cost assumptions may require early adjustment.

The developers mentioned that the upgrade was expected to incorporate EIP-8037 and EIP-8038, and that the two proposals would adjust the cost of status creation and status access to bring Gas prices closer to actual implementation costs. The team stated that most smart contracts would not be affected.
According to the re-enactment test of the history of the ETA, only a small number of contracts depend on the preconditions that will be changed, for example, by writing dead Gas values in the code. Under the new pricing rules, such contracts may fail in their implementation or fall in performance.
Developer contacted relevant team
The developer indicated that direct contact with the most affected builder team has been initiated to facilitate the completion of the necessary adjustments before the upgrade. The team also stated that most of the problems identified could be mitigated by raising the Gas ceiling.
The last adjustment to the Ether Workshop for state operating costs was the Berlin hard fork in 2021. Since then, there has been a marked increase in the size of the Taifeng state, with a concomitant increase in the deviation between old pricing and actual resource consumption.
Upgrade target to L1 amplification
The developer believes that repricing the state operation first is one of the prerequisites for a continued increase in the Gas cap. The new pricing scheme is based on a set of performance targets designed to support a three-fold increase in basic throughput.
Glamsterdam is an important upgrade in the next phase of the Taifeng, with the name coming from the combination of the upgrade of “Amsterdam” at the executive level and “Gloas” at the consensus level. According to the official version, following the Fusaka upgrade, the upgrade will focus on the L1 build-up and adjust transaction processing and status database management.
