Google is moving AI Mode further from the information retrieval tool to the travel planning and reservation portal. The company announced that users could now track the fare, screen and book the hotel through this dialogue-based search product, as well as direct access to air tickets and hotel costs when settling points or mileage.

Air ticket prices can be tracked automatically.

After the user enters the destination and the date of the trip, AI Mode can keep track of the ticket price changes and send a reminder by e-mail in case of price fluctuations. According to Google, this ticket price tracking feature now covers more than 180 countries and territories.

This means that AI Mode is no longer just giving the results of the search, but is starting to assume part of the travel decision-making process. For users who need to compare time and price, the tracking function reduces the steps of repeated searches.

Hotel reservation access Google Pay

In the hotel scene, users can directly inform AI Mode of the preferences for travel and accommodation, and the system gives an optional list of hotels with evaluation and key information. Once a hotel is selected, the user can have AI Mode help complete the reservation process.

This will be followed by a “Continue on Google” portal and links Google's integrated partners, including hotel groups and tourist platforms. Users can continue to choose the type of house, see details of the cancellation policy and complete the payment through Google Pay.

Google states that the actual order performance and follow-up service remains the responsibility of the hotel or reservation platform. The functionality has begun to be introduced in English in the United States and will be gradually opened in the coming weeks. The first providers were Booking.com, Expedia, Hilton, Marriott International, Priceline, Trip.com, etc.

Shows points and mileage costs

In addition to cash prices, AI Mode can now show the credit or mileage costs associated with airline tickets and hotels. Users can direct a demand such as “the use of AA miles to find direct air tickets from Atlanta to Miami”, and the system returns to the eligible option and shows the required mileage.

Google states that this crediting and mileage display is on line globally. As more reservation links are incorporated into AI Mode, Google is trying to extend the dialogue search to a more complete consumption decision-making process.
