Bitcoin's long-slept address has been noticeably active recently. According to Galaxy Research statistics, several BTCs received between 2011 and 2014 have been transferred, and some addresses have been static for more than 15 years.
A lot of coins have been transferred.
On 29 August, a 10-BTC address was transferred out of block 964,539. This bitcoin was first received on June 17, 2011, about 15.2 years. Galaxy estimated the corresponding value of the transfer to be approximately $777 million.
On August 12, another 85 BTC also moved for the first time since December 2012. Five days later, for the first time since 13 June 2011, 8.54 BTC was transferred. On August 18th, Galaxy also recorded two transfers of coins from 10.74 BTC and 212 BTC.
Heat on the chain.
On 22 August, 132.31 BTC and 150 BTC were also transferred. By August 28, there were more than 2,504 BTCs on the chain, most of which were active three to five years ago.
Galaxy reminds me that sleeping BTC has been transferred and does not mean it has been sold. The holder may also simply change the address or transfer the funds to the trading platform.
