Sources: Oman proposes a new mechanism for joint management of the Strait of Hormuz

On 29 July, a Gulf region source disclosed on 28 July that Oman had proposed to Iran a regional mechanism for the joint management of shipping in the Straits of Hormuz, where vessels could contribute on a voluntary basis. At present, neither Oman nor Iranian authorities have confirmed this information.
