MASK AND X PLATFORM ADVERTISERS HAVE SETTLED LONG-STANDING LEGAL DISPUTES
On 29 July, Elon Mask ' s social platform X had reconciled with a group of advertisers and ended a legal dispute that had lasted for many years. Previously, X had accused brands, including Marge, Shell, Nestlé and Lego, of illegally boycotting the platform. In 2024, the parent company X Corp sued the advertisers and the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) for complicity in the transfer of “billions of dollars” of advertising revenues from X platforms. Advertisers, for their part, deny the allegations that brands have the right to make their own decisions about advertising, rather than being forced to support a platform. This reconciliation means that one of the most radical legal actions launched by Mask in the advertising industry has officially come to an end. Since the acquisition of Twitter by Mask in 2022 at $44 billion (later renamed X), the revenue from platform advertising has declined significantly. Kim Xian
