Analyst: Fed's decision is the Eagle Pause
On 30 July, the analyst described the Fed's decision as “the hawks remain in place”. While the majority chose to maintain interest rates, three members of the Committee — Logan of the Dallas Federal Reserve, Hamark of the Cleveland Federal Reserve and Kashkali of the Minneapolis Federal Reserve — voted in favour of the 25 basis points. Mark Giannioni of Barclay said: “FOMC made the decision to `the Eagles stand still'.” This policy decision was taken in the face of significant hawks' resistance, and members of the hawks' position prefer to immediately increase interest rates rather than wait for more data to come out before making a decision.” Previously, economists generally expected two negative votes, while Kashkali voted for interest rate hikes to surprise some. According to Daniel Siluk, analyst of Janus Henderson Investments: “The three negative votes in favour of the interest rate hike highlight the fact that there is still a considerable force in the Commission that is concerned about inflation.”
