THE RECORD COMPANY PROMOTES THE "LABELLING" OF AI MUSIC, STREAMING MEDIA PLATFORMS OR NEW RULES

As the music industry struggles to cope with the industry changes that AI brings, a coalition of record companies and artists is urging major media platforms to mark the music generated by AI. The Alliance plans to work with fluent media platforms such as Spotify and Apple to indicate whether AI technology is being used in music production. Currently, the use of AI is largely marked by artists, record companies and distributors. The Alliance, led by the American Association of Phonograms (RIAA) and the International Association of Phonograms (IFPI), proposes two different labels for AI content. One of the labels is used to identify tracks that are generated exclusively by AI on the basis of hints, or those that are partially generated by AI by lead singers or key instruments. Another label is used to mark “AI-assisted” tracks, that is, works that are mainly created by humans but that use AI technology in certain elements. Kim Xian
