Trump: Israel “shows” in the Hamas disarmament plan

On 1 August, Trump stated that the United States and Israel had reached a “consensus” on Hamas's disarmament plan and that the Israeli side had “exactly done well” in that regard. According to Trump: “Most people had thought that this would be an unattainable agreement. It is not yet known whether it will experience a rise or fall, where the situation is very complex.” He added, however: “This is a great breakthrough; no one believes Hamas can disarm. That shows how successful we have been on Iran, because such an agreement would never have been possible if it had gone back four months and five months. It is therefore an impressive and surprising development for the Middle East.”
