Iran states that the joint statement with Oman is in the final stages of a mutual agreement on shipping routes

On 5 August, the spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that, as two States bordering the Strait of Hormuz, the talks between Iran and Oman had lasted two months and were aimed at establishing a safe passage for merchant shipping in the Strait. Technical, legal, security and environmental issues have been considered by the relevant Iranian authorities. The negotiation process between the two countries is “professional” and “forward-looking”. At present, the two countries have agreed on the geographical coordinates of the sea lanes to be drawn up in the Strait of Hormuz, and as long as certain third parties do not obstruct the process, the joint declaration of the two countries, which contains the main consensus, is at the final stage of consideration. The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran also stated that the Iranian Minister for Foreign Affairs or the Speaker of the Parliament had no plans to visit Pakistan or Qatar. He acknowledged, however, that Pakistan and Qatar were continuing their efforts to reduce tensions and stated that Iran was maintaining contact and exchanging views with them。
