Vitalik Buterin: There's a huge uncertainty about the pace of development of AI

Vitalik Buterin, a co-founder of the ETA, said that he still had great uncertainty about the pace of AGI/ASI development, whether AI would be a general technological advance or would bring a super-smart revolution in 2030-2040. He expressed concern about the tendency of some large AI companies to promote global AI ownership by a few agencies, which could trigger almost all political warnings under the “general technology world”. Buterin re-emphasizes its support for its D/ACC concept, which includes de-centre defence technology pathways such as open source, code science, security hardware, defensive biotechnology, and recommends that society pre-empt the AI risk trigger mechanism, such as revisiting the AI slowdown or moratorium when there is a risk of mass unemployment, super-epidemics or autonomous weapons。
