BITCOIN BIP-110 POINTS ON LINE EIGHT HOURS LATER FACING PREMATURE COLLAPSE, WITH INSUFFICIENT CALCULUS SUPPORT, GENERATING ONLY TWO BLOCKS

On 9 August, the BIP-110 support node at the height of block 961,632 rejected blocks that did not contain supporting signals, thus triggering a bitcoin fork. However, the new chain produced only two blocks after about eight hours on the line, and there is no indication that the miners intend to keep it going. According to the BIP-110 monitor, the branch is currently located at the height of block 961,633, while the main bitcoin chain has reached block height 961,681. BIP-110 is a one-year rule adjustment programme designed to restrict the inclusion of non-financial data in Bitcoin transactions, including such uses as the Ordinals inscriptions. The proposal required at least 1109 blocks (55 per cent) to send a support signal during the 2016 block cycle of about two weeks, but only 51 blocks, or 2.53 per cent, had been supported during the previous cycle。
