Coinsbuy's wallet was hit with $7.9 million in stolen Ether and Wave money
According to the Block Chain Investigation Agency, Specter, the encrypted payment wallet processed by Coinsbuy was stolen on 9 August at around 1300 UTC time, resulting in the loss of over $7.9 million in Ether and Wave assets. The attackers then began to transfer some of the stolen assets through the exchange to Monero, the private currency. Peck Shield states that the wallet “may have lost” approximately $7.9 million and traced some of the stolen money through platforms such as Changenow, Foxed Float and BingX. Certik ' s security sources independently confirmed the same loss estimates and course of dealing. Specter identified two Taifeng addresses and a wave address as the destination of the theft. This cross-chain transfer indicates that the attackers were given access to assets that could move over multiple chains, but it has not been determined whether private keys, administrator certificates or other parts of the Coinsbuy infrastructure were breached. Coinsbuy suspended deposits and withdrawals after the incident and resumed service。
