Japanese media: It is known that the Central Bank of Japan will raise interest rates in September to cope with inflation risks

On 11 August, according to sources quoted by the Japan News Agency, the Central Bank of Japan may consider a further increase at its next policy meeting, to be held from 17 to 18 September, after the June hike. Japan ' s prices are likely to rise further as a result of the rapid growth of artificial intelligence-related demand, the significant depreciation of the yen and the rise in crude oil prices. Previously, many financial market participants had expected the Central Bank of Japan to increase interest rates approximately every six months. However, according to the summary of views of the meeting released on Monday, at the latest policy-making meeting of the Central Bank of Japan, held from 30 to 31 July, some policy committee members have indicated that the rate of interest should be accelerated. One member said that “policy interest rates could rise faster than market expectations”, while another said that it was necessary for the Bank of Japan “to accelerate the pace of adjustment of monetary easing”.
