Nomura Securities: Japan ' s intervention scale at the end of July or 14,1 trillion days Dollar

On 11 August, Nomura Securities indicated that the size of the intervention in the Finance Ministry of Japan was likely to exceed the level of late April to early May. The United States and Japan intervention amounts are not known, but, based on the daily data of the Central Bank of Japan and projections of local currency market traders, it is estimated that the Japanese authorities' intervention between 30 July and 3 August was approximately Yen14.1 trillion ($88 billion). This figure exceeds the Ministry of Finance ' s intervention on 30 April, 4 May and 6 May (officially confirmed total intervention of 11,734.9 trillion yen over these three days). The scale of United States intervention is not yet clear, but the way in which United States intervention takes place may send a different message. The U.K. Financial Times had previously reported that the United States was likely to intervene in the empty euro to the Japanese yen, and that the United States had chosen that currency to contain the Japanese yen from weakening because it did not want to send signals to the market that were inconsistent with its strong dollar policy。
