Coinbase has a brand new engine for Deribit to handle over 100,000 orders per second
On 12 August, Coinbase announced the gradual deployment of a new generation of high-performance enablers on Deribit. The engine is based on a dedicated infrastructure, capable of processing more than 100,000 orders per second, with a delay of less than 1 millisecond, and is designed to increase the speed of implementation, expansion and liquidity performance of institutional derivatives transactions. The upgrade will also connect Deribit to the same core implementation infrastructure as Coinbase International Exchange. According to Coinbase, the new engine incorporates an built-in "speed buffer" mechanism in some traded varieties, provides more response time for liquid providers in fast-floating markets through short delays in active orders, and is expected to help marketers to provide more tight trade prices and deeper bill sizes. Coinbase stated that later this year, all the permanent contracts under the flag will also be relocated to the blender engine. At that time, options and durable contracts will share a more uniform trading infrastructure to support a more consistent trading experience, wider product coverage and deeper liquidity。
