Galaxy Research Manager: Official intervention by the Bitcoin Policy Research Institute in the abandonment of Bitcoin case to facilitate court dismissal

In a letter from Alex Thorn, Head of Galaxy Research, on platform X, significant progress had been made in the case of Bitcoin abandoned by “Noah Doe”, who had sought to obtain ownership of Chinese and Chinese bitcoin through legal proceedings, and the Bitcoin Institute for Policy Studies (BPI) had formally applied to intervene as a defendant in the case and sought to push the court to dismiss the entire case. BPI, represented by the law firm White & Case, is known to have requested not only to intervene in the case but also to have submitted a defence document, 15 positive arguments and plans to file a withdrawal motion. Alex Thorn disclosed that BPI claimed to be eligible for intervention because it had long been hosting a bitcoin reserve held indefinitely by part of the scheme, and that the plaintiff's doctrine of “long-term failure to use constitutes abandonment” might well have included similar assets in future litigation. If the legal logic of the case is ultimately upheld by the courts, the future may be a precedent for depriving long-term self-custody users of ownership of their assets, so that the litigation is related not only to the Chinese-heart-related assets, but also to the legal basis for the entire Bitcoin-auto-host ecology。
