Poll: Most U.S. voters believe that life under Trump is getting worse

On 16 August, an opinion poll in the British Financial Times revealed that the majority of United States voters believed that their living conditions had worsened under Donald Trump ' s leadership, indicating growing dissatisfaction with the President ' s way of dealing with the economy and the cost of living. Less than three months before the mid-term elections in November, a national opinion survey conducted by Focaldata found that more than 53 per cent of registered voters indicated that their financial situation had deteriorated since Trump returned to the White House in January 2025. Nearly 57 per cent of independent voters and nearly a quarter of self-proclaimed Republicans also believe that their situation has worsened under the current President. In addition, voters tend to believe that the Democratic Party is more responsive to inflation and cost of living than the Republicans.
