Claude comes down to make proteins: 15 targets take 14

Claude successfully designed 14 of the 15 targets in a protein design round. Researchers have access to a protein design and structural forecasting tool for Claude, enabling it to independently check information, select design locations, call tools and continuously screen and modify programmes. Ultimately, 354 out of 1320 designs were successfully tested by the real biological experiments of Adaptyv Bio and Twist Bioscience, with a hit rate of about 27 per cent. Anthropic states that this type of protein design usually has a hit rate of about 10 to 15 per cent, and that some of the target results are even higher than the previous Protein Design Championship programme. Nevertheless, Claude still has a long way to go to develop new medicines for herself, and the design of proteins that combine targets is only an early step in drug development, and much more experimentation and clinical validation is required for follow-up。
