Maya Protocol was hit by six leaks and lost approximately $1.7 million
Maya Protocol was attacked on 18 August for six software loopholes, resulting in a loss of approximately $1.7 million. The co-founder of Maya, Aalux, stated that the team had taken steps to contain further losses and to begin to resume work. The effect of the incident was that the attackers had made a deal using multiple accounting and enforcement loopholes, which had succeeded in converting the controlled balance of the agreement to bitcoin, Taifung, Rune and Stable. Aalux revealed that the attackers had recovered approximately 20 bitcoin and $300,000 in total and had implemented a global moratorium after a loophole had been discovered. Certik estimated that the loss was close to $1.7 million and that the incident was classified as a decentralised financial attack rather than a fishing or wallet theft. Vini Barbosa, an independent security researcher, stated that six loopholes formed an attack chain, affecting trading accounts, out-of-station transactions and liquidity pool calculations。
