Joint statement by Egypt, Qatar and Turkey condemning Israeli attacks on Gaza
On 21 August, Egypt, Qatar and Turkey, in their capacity as facilitators for Gaza, issued a joint statement on the recent Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip. The statement strongly condemned the Israeli attacks, which had resulted in civilian casualties, including Palestinian women and children, and the three countries expressed their close concern at the ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement. The three countries stress that the escalation of Israeli attacks undermines regional and international efforts at this critical juncture. Currently, the parties are working actively to implement a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict and to take constructive measures in the negotiating process. They stressed the need for Israel to comply fully with all its obligations under the ceasefire agreement and to refrain from any action that could weaken the ceasefire or lead to an escalation of tension.
