Trump claims that the solution to the $4 trillion debt problem depends on growth denial to instruct Becent to intervene in the debt market
On 22 August, the President of the United States, Trump, responded to the US government's “35-year-old” debt over US$40 trillion, saying that the problem was “through growth” and that the United States was now achieving “very strong growth” that would be “easy to solve”. When asked whether the United States Treasurer, Becent, had been asked to intervene in the bond market, Trump denied it as “none at all”. According to Trump, Besent is a “very capable person” who himself wishes to take the relevant action and claims that he “has a good instinct for bonds and interest rates”. When asked whether to discuss further interventions with Becent after the return on the United States debt, Trump responded: “The ultimate means of intervention is our army, and it is time to do so”
