40% INCREASE IN THE USE OF AI IN ENCRYPTION OFFENCES
On 22 August, according to The Block, the latest report from TRM Labs shows that the use of AI in encrypted crime has increased by 40 per cent over the past year. Its “AI crime use index” is currently 54 points, at a “emerging” stage, up from about 28 points in 2024, of which fraud is the only type of crime that enters the “maturity” stage. Since 2022, encrypted fraud reports involving techniques such as deep forgery, AI chat robots have increased by about 13 times; so far in 2026, the reported losses from deep forgery have been 263 per cent higher than in 2025. The report also notes that Korean hackers are using deep forgery to infiltrate IT personnel and to carry out social engineering attacks and discoveries through AI。
