Last week, nearly 200 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz

On 23 August, data from the British Maritime Trade Action Office showed that close to 200 vessels had passed through the Strait of Hormuz last week, up from 150 in the previous week and about 40 two weeks earlier. Data from the Maritime Intelligence Agency, Kpler, show that over 80 per cent of the liquid cargo transported through the Strait of Hormuz over the past two weeks has chosen either to bypass the Omani route, which is supported by the United States and is licensed by the United Nations International Maritime Organization, or to shut down the ship ' s automatic identification system to conceal navigation.
