Israeli parliamentary elections on 27 October were held for the first time in nearly 40 years without early elections

According to the Israeli Times, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee of the Knesset, Ophel Katz, announced that parliamentary elections would be held on 27 October. The current session of Parliament will complete its statutory four-year term on 17 July and the elections will be held on the dates specified by law. In his discussions, the Knesset Legal Adviser, Sajit Afiq, stated that the current Knesset “will complete its full term and will not be dissolved earlier”, which means that there is no need for an early dissolution bill. This will be the first time in nearly 40 years for Israel to hold parliamentary elections in accordance with the legal time frame and the first Government to complete its full term in more than 50 years。
