Generalist got nearly $200 million in financing, valued at $3 billion

TechCrunch reported that Generalist, a robot start-up company, received nearly $200 million in additional financing from 8VC, valued at $3 billion. The fund was an extension of the $400 million B round of financing that had been carried out in June by Radical Ventures, bringing the total to $600 million. Generalist was founded in 2024 with a team of former Google DeepMind Fellows Pete Florence, Andy Zeng and former Boston Dynamics Engineer Andrew Barry. The company is in the process of developing an AI-based model for a variety of robots, the latest of which is the Gen 1.5 model, which allows robots to learn and perform new tasks through a 3 to 12-second video presentation。
