Iranian officials: inspection of all nuclear facilities under attack requires approval by the Iranian Parliament

On 27 August, the Chairman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Islami, stated that the International Atomic Energy Agency must obtain the legal approval of the Iranian Parliament for the inspection of any nuclear facilities subjected to a military attack and develop the corresponding statute. He stated that all Iranian nuclear facilities subjected to military attacks had previously been registered and inspected by IAEA. The Agency ' s inability to condemn the attacks called into question its capacity and independence. The Agency was pressured to visit damaged Iranian nuclear facilities in order to assess the results of the United States military strike. Until such time as the security regulations prescribed by the Iranian Parliament are in place, Iran does not accept the Agency ' s request to inspect these facilities. (In Russian)
