Iranian official: Iran would be a “historic disaster” if America were to take a destructive action
On 28 August, at a meeting with the Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Mohammed Rezai, Secretary of the Supreme State Security Committee of Iran, stated at local time 27, that Iran did not trust the United States because of its repeated rejection of diplomacy and negotiations. Iran warns of a “historical catastrophe” for its military and economic interests if the United States does any act of sabotage against Iran. He stated that the United States must first take practical measures to meet Iran ' s conditions before Iran opens the Strait of Hormuz. Mohammad indicated that, in view of the sensitivity of the current situation in the region and out of a sense of responsibility, the Kuwaiti side had always wished to cooperate with Iran.
