Kalibaf fights against Becent: Your credibility is at stake

On 28 August, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Kalibaf, wrote in social media against the United States Treasury Secretary, Becent, and quoted the New York Times report that the credibility of his debt market was being tested. The reason for this was that Becent had previously criticized the Iranian Government in social media. He stated that, at a time when the Iranian people could not afford even basic necessities, “the corrupt Iranian regime continues to squander huge amounts of money abroad”, rather than sending billions of dollars to so-called “terrorist agents”, it would be better to spend it on its own people. Kalibaf then responded in almost the same sentence: instead of investing huge sums of money in Israel, the “terrorist agent” and the United States of America's approximately 750 military bases around the world, the “defeating empire” could well spend it on its own people. “But forget it, it may be too reasonable for this regime.” Then he said, "Scott, man, your credibility is at stake. Let's get to work. According to that report, Becent tried to reduce the rate of return by, inter alia, expanding long-term United States debt buy-backs, but the market responded evenly. The ability and personal credibility of the United States to “train” the debt market is increasingly being tested against a backdrop of US debt of up to $40 trillion, and the situation in Iran is exacerbating inflationary pressures。
