Stripe and Advent decided to give up PayPal, after offering over $50 billion
On 28 August, Bloomberg reported that the consortium of the private equity company Advent International and the payment giant Stripe had decided to abandon the plan to acquire PayPal. Previously, the consortium had offered PayPal over $50 billion in purchase prices, which, according to market sources, had been about $53 billion in size. According to the source, since the information had not yet been made public and had been requested to be anonymous, Advent, Stripe and PayPal refused to comment. However, informed sources indicate that the situation is likely to change and that Advent and Stripe are likely to resubmit their acquisition programmes in the future。
