Anthropic connects AI to the real machine: weeks of hardware integration to eight hours
Anthropic introduced model hardware standards (MHS) in the form of research previews, enabling AI angent to operate directly on real-life machines, including microscopes, liquid processors, mechanical arms and laser systems in quantum computers. In the past, it usually took weeks or even months to connect equipment from different manufacturers, while the MHS could compress the work to hours or even minutes. MHS, as a unified hardware interface, will inform agent of its own functionality, state and security limits in a uniform format when the device is accessed. Practical tests showed that the speed of the experimental automated system built by Carnegie Mellon University within approximately eight hours had increased by about threefold. Quantum Calculator Quera allowed Claude to automatically optimize the laser recovery process, with a 99.3 per cent success rate. The MHS still does not have open standards, but only applications are open to some research institutions and manufacturers, and Anthropic plans to open the source once more safety tests are completed。
