On August 28th, the first speech by Federal Reserve Chairman Walsh in Jackson Hall lasted about half. At the end of his speech, he stated that he was committed to “a discipline, not a decision”. He said that the Federal Reserve policymakers took their responsibilities seriously. “We know that much depends on the choices we make”, he said, “effective and sound monetary policy helps families and businesses to flourish. It can expand and deepen the growth momentum of our economies and help to consolidate United States leadership in the world. I know that our country needs us to think carefully and act wisely.”
