The total investment in Meta Louisiana data centre will exceed $250 billion

On 13 July, Meta Platforms pledged an additional $40 billion to its large data centre campus in Louisiana, United States, and the project ' s projected total investment will exceed $250 billion as the company continues to expand its artificial intelligence computing layout. Meta announced on Monday that the data centre project in rural areas of Louisiana would be expanded to at least 5 GW, with a total investment of $50 billion. Previously, the company had announced that it would invest $10 billion to build the data centre and surrounding communities. In May this year, it was reported that Meta planned to invest an additional $200 billion in the project, mainly for the purchase of high-cost chips to be installed in the nearly 4,000 acres of the site. According to an informed source, this would bring the project ' s projected total investment to at least $250 billion. To date, Meta has not disclosed any specific expenditure for the project other than the $50 billion。
