Cronos network back online, $74 million in fund security after the Tectonic loophole
The Cronos network resumed production blocks at 2349 UTC on 31 August 2026, starting blocks at 90,896,189, after the certifiers had urgently suspended the chain to prevent further losses as a result of detecting loopholes in the Tectonic loan agreement. According to the security company Peck Shield, the attackers stole approximately $74 million from Tectonic, but managed to transfer only about $6 million to the Ether factory before the chain was suspended, leaving some $60 million trapped in the system. Kris, co-founder of Cripto.com, stated that the Cronos team was working with Cripto.com ' s security team to investigate the loophole, confirming that Crystal.com applications and exchanges were unaffected and that user funds were secure。
