LARGE-SCALE PASSWORD REPLACEMENTS FOR X PLATFORM. MULTIPLE ENCRYPTION INDUSTRY ACCOUNTS RECEIVED UNUSUAL REQUESTS

On 1 September, thousands of X users reported receiving uninitiated password replacement mail, including several well-known encryption industry accounts and CoinDesk employees, and some users received up to 10 related mails within hours, raising concerns about market reconciliation accounts taking over attacks or potential data leaks. Encryption investor Nic Carter states that a large number of users are receiving requests for X password replacement and suggests that X's "Password Reset Protection" function be activated. Another encrypted user, Cap.eth, claims that even if a dual authentication is enabled, there is still an "active" attempt to reset its password. There is no evidence that the X platform system has been invaded or taken over by large-scale accounts. The security mechanism for X allows the attackers to initiate a password replacement request only through an open user name and then send a replacement mail to the attached mailbox, so receipt of the mail does not in itself mean that the user ' s address has been disclosed. X There has not been a public response to this request for replacement of the abnormal password, nor has a coordinated attack or security incident been confirmed.
