Qatar calls for a return to a negotiated diplomatic solution to the crisis
On 2 September, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Majid Ansari, at a regular press conference held in Doha on 1 September local time, stated that it was not in the interests of either side to escalate the situation in the region again and called on all parties concerned to remain rational and return to the negotiating track. Ansari stated that if the issue of the Strait of Hormuz remained unresolved and the state of its closure normalized, the situation would further escalate. Al-Ansari indicated that Qatar was continuing its diplomatic good offices with regional and international partners and that consultations with good offices partners, including Oman and Pakistan, were ongoing. It is promoting a diplomatic solution to the crisis in the Straits of Hormuz to ensure the restoration of openness and freedom of navigation. (In Russian)
