Cornell Report: Bitcoin has the highest rates of adoption in El Salvador and Venezuela
Studies at Cornell University found that Bitcoin had the highest rates of ownership in El Salvador, Venezuela and Nigeria, with 25,880 people in 25 countries surveyed. Studies have shown that in countries with unstable economies, limited bank access or difficulties in accessing the dollar, residents prefer bitcoin as a financial instrument rather than just speculative investment. El Salvador had the highest ownership rate, with 72 per cent of respondents indicating that they had had bitcoin. Venezuela and Nigeria also reported high exposure, albeit under different monetary and regulatory conditions. The study also found that men were more likely than women to own bitcoin in each of the countries surveyed, while the population aged 30 to 44 was the most stable。
