The Pentagon claims that the Anthropic injunction is still in force

On 4 September, the United States Department of Defense stated that the restrictions against the artificial intelligence company Anthropic remained in force and were inconsistent with previous statements by Howard Lutnik, United States Minister of Commerce, that the parties had resolved their differences. Amir Michael, Deputy Minister for Research and Engineering of the United States Department of Defense, wrote on social platforms that Anthropic was still recognized as a “supply chain risk” by the Department of Defense and the Defence Industry Base. Lutnik had previously indicated that Anthropic had addressed long-standing problems with the Trump Government and that company-government relations had improved. Anthropic had previously faced restrictions because of concerns of the Government that its models might be misused for cyberattack capability。
