The Ministry of Home Affairs of Malaysia is investigating the digital Traveller community created by former Coinbase executive

On 14 July, Reuters reported that the Ministry of Home Affairs of Malaysia was investigating the digital Traveller community created by Balaji Srinivasan, a former chief technical officer of Coinbase, who had been accused of including Israelis who had violated immigration laws. The Malaysian Immigration Service indicated that Israeli passport holders were prohibited from entering Malaysia. However, Malaysia does not have a law prohibiting dual nationals from travelling on non-Israeli passports. Founded in 2024, the community's website describes it as “the front-line community of techno-optimists”, which aims to “transform the Internet community into a real entrepreneurship society”. The Ministry of Home Affairs of Malaysia indicated that the investigation would focus on determining the identity and nationality of the persons involved, the validity of the travel documents used and the purpose for which they entered Malaysia. According to the Ministry of the Interior, if any violations, misuse of immigration permits, provision of false information or any other violations affecting the security and interests of the State are found, stringent measures will be taken without compromise。
